REVIVIENDO TRADICIONES / REVIVING TRADITIONS
El pasado 15 de diciembre, lideres latinoamericanos celebró una de las tradiciones mexicanas más populares durante ese mes “POSADAS” en el que niños y adultos, celebraron la llegada de la navidad; sin embargo y teniendo en cuenta la riqueza cultural de nuestra comunidad Latine en Lake County, incorporamos algunos elementos pertenecientes a diferentes culturas como empanadas colombianas, un divertido tiempo decorando galletas y la visita de Santa Claus.
On December 15, Lideres Latinoamericanos celebrated one of the most popular Mexican traditions during the month of December, “POSADAS,” in which children and adults celebrated the arrival of Christmas. Taking into account the cultural richness of our Latine community in Lake County, we incorporated some elements belonging to different cultures such as Colombian empanadas, a fun time decorating cookies, and a visit from Santa Claus.
Dato curioso: La tradición Mexicana de las “POSADAS” nace como una costumbre religiosa de navidad después de la conquista española; sin embargo, puede decirse que fue fusionada con las creencias religiosas católicas y la celebración prehispánica de los “Aztecas” que ocurría durante el mismo mes, en el que se celebraba la llegada del dios “ Huitzilopochtli”.
Curious fact: The Mexican tradition of “POSADAS” was born as a religious Christmas custom after the Spanish conquest. However, it can be said that it was fused with the Catholic religious beliefs and the pre-Hispanic celebration of the Aztecs that occurred during the same month, in which the arrival of the god Huitzilopochtli was celebrated.
