2016 GOL! Proyecto Promotor Report

Backpacks of 9th and 10th graders from Lake County High School as they spend the day at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, Colorado for an Outdoor Community Building Day to focus on strengthening bonds within school “crews”. The goals for the day include building a sense of each crew as a family within the larger school family and fostering a relationship with a trusted adult (crew leader). Copyright Anabel Clark 2019. Part of the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Inspire Initiative, or GO Leadville!, the Proyecto Promotor aimed to identify and lift up the voices of Lake County community members from traditionally under-represented areas in our community. As part of their work on this project, the team of six promotoras working primarily in their neighborhoods (Mt. View, Eagles Nest, Lake Fork, and Family Dollar Neighborhood) gathered input from community members about what would help them get outside and connect more with the outdoors. Between February 23 and May 11, the promotoras met as a team 16 times, attended 6 site visits, and interviewed 239 community members.
