LETTUCE GATHER Future Town Tour 2023
The event took place on September 17, led by the LCBAG Food Access Coalition, with support from Warm Cookies for the Revolution. It was one of the stops, here in Leadville, of the Future Town Tour, a traveling event consisting of artists and agents for positive change in our Colorado communities.
We began by warming up with a bilingual yoga class, framed by the grandeur of the mountains that surround our community. The Ice Park was the setting, and the weather could not have been better, everything contributing to the feeling of peace of mind we all felt afterward. Attendees connected with their inner selves and the nature around them. The next stop was a workshop on medicinal plants, specifically Artemisia, (like Sagebrush) which was our protagonist for a reconnection with the ancient knowledge of how plants can help people live healthier lives and fight diseases. Again the attendees learned in a space musicalized by the wind hitting the branches of the trees, reminding us that nature always provides the tools that humanity needs for a life more connected to the earth.
Finally, Healy House Museum was the setting for an afternoon accompanied by poetry, music, food, art and conversations that revolved around the attendees’ connections to nature and the idea of a new food system in our Lake County. The conversation included translation into Spanish for those who consider it the language of their hearts. The preparation, time, and love with which this event was prepared was the key to its success; Many thanks to everyone who made it possible and especially to those who accompanied the LCBAG Food Access Coalition to imagine and dream of a town of the future and an accessible and egalitarian food system.

RECOLECTANDO LECHUGAS Tour del pueblo Futuro 2023
El evento se llevó a cabo el 17 de septiembre, liderado por la Coalición de Acceso a la Comida de LCBAG, con el apoyo de Warm Cookies for the Revolution. Fue una de las paradas, aquí en Leadville, del Tour del Pueblo Futuro, un evento itinerante formado por artistas y agentes para un cambio positivo en nuestras comunidades de Colorado.
Comenzamos calentando con una clase de yoga bilingüe, enmarcados por la grandeza de las montañas que rodean nuestra comunidad. El Ice Park fue el escenario y el tiempo no pudo ser mejor, todo contribuyó a la sensación de tranquilidad que todos sentimos después. Los asistentes conectaron con su yo interior y la naturaleza que los rodea. La siguiente parada fue un taller sobre plantas medicinales, específicamente la planta Artemisia, fue nuestra protagonista para una reconexión con el conocimiento antiguo de cómo las plantas pueden ayudar a las personas a vivir una vida más saludable y combatir enfermedades. Nuevamente los asistentes aprendieron en un espacio musicalizado por el viento golpeante en las ramas de los árboles, recordándonos que la naturaleza siempre brinda las herramientas que la humanidad necesita para una vida más conectada con la tierra.
Finalmente, Healy House Museum fue el escenario de una tarde acompañada de poesía, música, comida, arte y conversaciones que giraron en torno a las conexiones de los asistentes con la naturaleza y la idea de un nuevo sistema de alimentario en nuestro condado de Lake. La conversación incluyó traducción al español para quienes lo consideran el idioma de su corazón. La preparación, tiempo y amor con el que se creó este evento fue la clave de su éxito; Muchas gracias a todos los que lo hicieron posible y especialmente a quienes acompañaron a la Coalición de Acceso a la Comida de LCBAG para imaginar y soñar con un pueblo del futuro y un sistema alimentario accesible e igualitario.
