Community Planning & Research

We can’t start the process of solving community challenges until we understand our communities’ issues. What health experiences do community members have in our community? What are the root causes of our community challenges? What strengths can we build on? What shared vision would inspire community members to work together for a stronger future?

We believe that community members themselves make the best researchers. In our community research process, we train community members to investigate their own community–rather than bringing in outside researchers.

We also believe that communities themselves know the solutions to any challenges that a community research process identifies. Once community researchers have gathered the data, we support them in bringing this research to community members and working together to develop pathways to change.
