What is Collective Impact?

Safe and affordable housing. Mental health and substance abuse. Academic and career readiness.

These are some of the complex social, environmental and economic factors that impact the health and well-being of the whole community.

Lake County Build a Generation and Lake County Public Health Agency strive to implement a 21st Century approach to public health by applying preventative solutions to the complex health issues facing our community. But we can’t solve these problems alone. We know that it takes collaboration between all community stakeholders– including government, nonprofit, education, business, youth, and families — in order to achieve long-term, measurable change.

In Collective Impact, representatives from all community sectors work together to:

  • Establish a common agenda by prioritizing health concerns, setting goals and creating a long-range plan of action
  • Establish shared measurement systems to evaluate how well we’re reaching our goals
  • Coordinate mutually reinforcing activities that align strategies and resources without duplicating efforts

As a backbone agency, Lake County Build a Generation provides the infrastructural support for this collaboration. From facilitating coalition meetings, to securing funding for programs, to providing evaluation support to track outcomes, Lake County Build a Generation staff work to ensure the community’s vision is always moving forward.
